Investment in creating clean air leads to the improvement of the physical and mental health of a community.

Inhalation of polluted air not only causes damage to the respiratory system but also harms individuals' minds. Recent studies show that there is a significant and meaningful association between exposure to air pollution and an increased risk of anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, and even dementia.

It has also been noted that children are particularly vulnerable. Studies have shown that children exposed to higher levels or concentrations of air pollution are significantly more likely (four times more) to experience depression by the time they reach 18 years of age compared to other children. Furthermore, in communities with high air pollution—often coupled with low-income levels—mental health issues are much more severe, to the point of being considered an invisible crisis. In fact, this contributes to more serious problems and crises later in life.

Air pollution is, in fact, a part of a puzzle that, when combined with overcrowding, poverty, and a lack of green spaces, forms a very dangerous set of environmental factors that severely worsen the mental and psychological health of communities.

Clean air is not only beneficial for physical health but also represents a fundamental step forward toward healthier, psychologically and mentally stronger communities.
